What we believe

New Hope Bible Church is a fellowship of believers in Jesus Christ. Our ultimate goal is to exalt Jesus Christ both personally and corporately. We are dependant wholly on God's Word the Bible, and the Holy Spirit for our direction, recognising Jesus Christ as our only Lord and Sovereign.

1. We believe the Holy Bible to be God's complete revelation to man, and as such it is entirely without error from cover to cover. We trust it as our only authority of faith and practice.

2. We believe in the Trinity, one God existing in three persons, the Father, the Son, and Holy Spirit.

3. We believe in God the Father, who because of his great love for man, sent his only son to die for our sin, that he might purchase our salvation.

4. We believe in Jesus Christ, God the Son, who came to earth as a man without any change in His Deity, was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on the cross for the sins of the whole world. We believe that he rose bodily from the dead on the third day, ascended into heaven, and is now seated on the right hand of God the Father, as our Advocate and High Priest, and will come again soon to rule and reign on earth.

5. We believe in God the Holy Spirit, the Author of Scripture, who convicts the world of sin, righteousness and judgement, baptises those who believe into the body of Christ, indwells, fills, and seals them unto the day of redemption. He gives comfort, guidance and direction to all true Christians.

6. We believe that man was created in sinless perfection, being in the likeness of God, but through the sin of Adam, fell away from the truth of God. Now man is totally dependant upon God for his salvation.

7. We believe that God, through his grace, mercy and love, has made the gift of eternal life available to man through the death of his son Jesus Christ. We believe that salvation is all God's doing, and that there is nothing we can do to earn his forgiveness and love. It is a gift from God to all who believe.

8. We believe that God has a separate program for the nation Israel which he declares in his covenants with them, and that the church does not in any way replace God's program or plans for them.

9. We believe that all who trust Christ are members of His body, being baptised into Christ at the moment of their conversion by the Holy Spirit. We believe that the local church is the local manifestation of the Universal body of Christ, having for it's head Christ. We believe that this local assembly should meet regularly, for the edifying and building up of one another in the faith. We believe that the two ordinances of the Lord's Supper, and Baptism, should be observed regularly until He returns.

10. We believe that spiritual gifts are divinely given to each member of the body of Christ for the purpose of glorifying God and edifying the body. We contend that revelation is not an ongoing phenomena, that God's revelation to man is complete in the Bible, that tongues are neither a sign of the baptism of the Holy Spirit, nor of spirituality, and Christ's atonement does not demand physical healing.

11. We believe in the eternal security of the believer, meaning, that once a person has been saved, it is forever. We further contend that this security is based solely upon God's written word.

12. We believe in the existence of Satan and his angels. His mode of operation is total opposition to God at every opportunity. He seeks to destroy all that is good and right, and seeks to blind the minds of unbelievers, and hinder the work and purpose of the church.

13. We believe in the personal, pretribulational, premillenial return of the Lord Jesus Christ and that he will reign on the earth for 1000 years. We believe that all who trust in Him shall inherit eternal life with Him, and that those who reject Him will face eternal separation from God in a literal Hell as described in His Holy Word.
